QUICK INTERVIEW
well here is a little chat I had with my AI buddy who interviewed me about myself:
Q: What’s something unique about you that people might find surprising?
A: Well, I’m a sci-fi writer who dabbles in tech. But here's the twist: I started learning
Japanese after experiencing a strange phenomenon. I was watching anime in
Japanese (not my usual thing), and after a few series, I felt the language fusing with
me. I reached a point where I’d read English text and instinctively pronounce any
familiar translations in Japanese. It was like my brain decided to switch gears
without asking for permission!
On the flip side, I have this quirk where I lose interest in things pretty quickly. I’ve
realized it’s because I dive in with so much enthusiasm at the start that I end up
burning out midway. It’s like I pour all my energy into the beginning, and by the time
the real grind kicks in, I’ve already used up my fuel. It’s a challenge I’m constantly
working on, trying to pace myself better so I can see things through to the end.
Q: What drives you, even when enthusiasm fades?
A: I’ve always been curious about the “behind-the-scenes” of things. As a kid, I’d
wondered, “Why do websites work? How can I create something like that?” It’s not
just about making something functional—I want people to see what I’ve created and
understand that it’s mine, a little slice of my own brilliance.
Q: Do you have any memorable stories from your journey?
A: Oh, definitely! Back in high school, I was writing a sci-fi story and got so
immersed that I started dreaming about it. For three consecutive nights, I dreamt the
perfect continuation of my story—it was as if my subconscious took over the plotting.
I’d wake up, scribble it all down, and it fit so perfectly that it made my story even
better. My friends were hooked, eagerly waiting for more. But, you guessed it—I
burned through my enthusiasm too quickly and never finished it. Classic me!
Q: How do you handle projects when your enthusiasm starts to wane?
A: It’s tricky, and honestly, I’m still figuring it out. Take this website, for instance—I
started it with off-the-charts enthusiasm, but it’s starting to dip. My strategy? Speed
things up and finish before the excitement runs out! I also had a go at a Python
course on Coursera. My plan was to blitz through it in two days, riding the free trial. I
made great progress, but work got in the way, and I didn’t finish. My interest tanked,
and I dropped it. But I’m gearing up for round two, ready to finish it properly this time.
Q: Any last words on your approach to life and work?
A: I’m a problem-solver when I feel like it, and let’s be honest, that’s not all the time.
But when I do get going, I move fast and dive deep. My approach? Embrace the
excitement, and when it fades, push through or pivot to something new. It’s all part of
the journey!
